The University of the Western Cape (UWC) invites applications for the 2025 Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program, aimed at developing transformative leaders by supporting young Africans in overcoming economic and social barriers to higher education. This fully-funded program offers opportunities to pursue undergraduate and master’s degree qualifications at UWC.
Eligibility Criteria:
For Master’s Degree Applicants:
- Must be 30 years old or younger.
- Meet UWC’s minimum admissions requirements.
- Prepared to begin full-time studies in January 2025.
- Must provide evidence of economic and social barriers to education.
For Undergraduate Applicants:
- Must be 26 years old or younger.
- Meet UWC’s minimum admissions requirements.
- Prepared to begin full-time studies in January 2025.
- Must provide evidence of economic and social barriers to education.
Candidates seeking a second degree at either level are ineligible to apply.

- Apply for admission to UWC for the 2025 academic year.
- Apply to the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program after obtaining a UWC application number.
