Application description

We are in search of an experienced Electro Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a solid background in managing and repairing engineering equipment such as incinerators and cold rooms. The role involves implementing safety protocols, verifying and installing electrical and plumbing systems, and executing preventive and curative maintenance. The successful candidate should demonstrate a quick learning ability for new skills and technologies relevant to electro mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Management and repairs of the incinerators, cold room, extruders, press, and any equipment at the sites.
  • Report the breakdown of the incinerator within 1 hour to the management before proceeding for any repair.
  • Monitors and adjusts controls of auxiliary equipment, such as exhaust emissions, scrubbers, and incinerator heat recovery unit, following prescribed procedures.
  • Control emissions and take measurements regularly.
  • Control and repair regularly the state of refractory cements in the incinerator.
  • Replaces refractory linings of furnace, using firebrick and mortar; however, the site coordinator and operator will need prior approval to do it from the management.
  • Cleans debris from the furnace room floor, using rake and broom.
  • Removes and cleans equipment parts, such as valves, burners, and other parts, following manuals and using hand tools.
  • Put in place an annual plan for preventive and curative maintenance of the equipment and incinerators.
  • Make monthly inventories of all the equipment at the site and update it every month with serial numbers, dates of acquisition, and other useful information.
  • Ensure security protocols are observed and report any incident immediately to the Managing Director.
  • Record the number of cycles per day and kilograms of waste incinerated.
  • Respect and comply with incineration procedures and storage of hazardous waste.
  • Put in place and post safety protocol at the Mageragere facility.
  • Ensure that all staff wash their hands regularly before and after work.
  • Ensure all the staff working at the site always wear personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure safety protocols are observed by all staff members.
  • Work with WASAC and EUCL to ensure the availability of water and electricity at the site.
  • Supervise all new constructions of Mageragere or of Depot Kalisimbi Ltd or its affiliates.
  • Verify existing electrical and plumbing at the sites and install new ones whenever necessary.
  • Ensure all approved visitors wear safety jackets, helmets, and protective shoes.
  • Be exemplary at work and lead by actions and by serving.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Quality and Competence Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electro mechanical engineering or a similar domain.
  • High moral standards and integrity/honesty.
  • Good attitude, ethics, and professionalism.
  • Good listening and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Kinyarwanda and English/French.
  • Quick learner.
  • Preferably a woman who can work under minimum supervision and under pressure.

Contract Terms:

One-year contract renewable with a 3-month probation period.
