Project Overview:

Under the EU project titled Sustainable Food Production for Poverty Reduction in Rwanda, Concern Worldwide, in partnership with ARDI (Association Rwandaise pour la promotion du Développement Intégré) and local CSOs, will implement activities in targeted groups of households living in extreme poverty in the Districts of Gisagara and Nyaruguru in the Southern Province. The project will run for 48 months and aims to strengthen local markets and improve food and nutrition security through environmentally inclusive agriculture value chains.

Job Objective:

The main objective of the Agribusiness Trainers is to enhance local food production and the availability of nutritious food in Rwanda, specifically targeting smallholder farmers. The trainers will support the program by promoting gender and environmentally inclusive agricultural practices.

Key Outputs:

  1. Increase the availability of food for household consumption and market sales.
  2. Improve access to food, agricultural markets, finance, and nutrition.
  3. Contribute to the stability of food and nutrition security in the targeted communities.

Position Details:

  • Positions Available: 5 Agribusiness Trainers
  • Location: Ngera (2) and Ngoma (3) sectors of Nyaruguru District
  • Contract Duration: 1 year (renewable based on program needs)

Experience and Qualifications:

  • At least 6 years post-primary education (A2 Certificate).
  • Field of Education: Agriculture, veterinary, forestry, accounting, or other related fields.
  • Fieldwork experience in environmental protection, agri-nutrition, agri-business, and market access.
  • No other employment or active labor contract.
  • Residency in the project location.
  • Proficiency in speaking and writing Kinyarwanda.
  • Known for integrity within the local community.
  • Ability to facilitate training workshops for farmers and adults.
  • Willingness to work under ARDI and Concern Worldwide supervision.
  • Ready to start in September 2024.

Work Schedule:

  • Full-time from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm (30-minute break).
  • Supervision of 4 Farmer Field Learning School (FFLS) Sites.
  • Participation in Training of Trainers (ToTs) sessions as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in selecting program beneficiaries and support household validation processes.
  • Provide continuous support to four FFLS sites.
  • Organize and conduct training in agribusiness, agri-nutrition, business skills, and financial literacy.
  • Monitor the establishment of Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLAs).
  • Conduct home visits to strengthen agricultural practices and monitor finances.
  • Organize community showcasing events.
  • Facilitate data collection and provide regular reports on program progress.

  • Certificate of the last employer, if applicable.

Important Dates:

27th August – 5th September 2024: Submission of candidate documents.

10th September 2024: Selection of candidates for tests (writing and interview).

12th September 2024: Writing, interview exam, and publishing of successful candidates.
