About Kayko:
At Kayko, we believe small businesses are the backbone of Africa’s economy — and we’re here to empower them. Based in Kigali, Rwanda, Kayko is building the everyday financial platform that small businesses across Africa can rely on to manage, grow, and thrive. We’re on a mission to make managing business finances simple, accessible, and powerful and we’re just getting started.
About the Role:
We’re looking for a Head of Finance who isn’t just a numbers person — but a strategic, entrepreneurial leader ready to help shape the future of Kayko. You will be responsible for building and leading the finance function across accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), internal controls, regulatory reporting, and strategic finance initiatives. You’ll work closely with the CEO and leadership team to drive business growth, prepare for scaling (including potential fundraising rounds), and ensure financial excellence at every step. This is a high-impact, leadership role with full ownership of our finance operations.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Own all aspects of financial operations: accounting, budgeting, cash flow management, financial reporting, and compliance.
-
Build and manage financial models to guide strategic decisions and resource allocation.
-
Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting processes.
-
Implement internal controls and financial best practices to support scalable growth.
-
Manage regulatory compliance, tax filings, and relations with auditors and banking partners.
-
Drive fundraising processes by preparing investor-ready financial statements, forecasts, and supporting materials.
-
Provide clear, data-driven insights and recommendations to the executive team.
-
Build and mentor a finance team as the company scales.
-
Serve as a key thought partner to the CEO on all things finance, risk, and growth.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA, CPA or ACCA are a plus).
-
7+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, preferably in fintech, startups, or high-growth companies.
-
Mastery of financial reporting, FP&A, budgeting, and compliance.
-
Strong grasp of financial regulations in Rwanda (experience across East Africa is a bonus).
-
Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
-
Proven ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels — you can build models, close books, and shape financial strategy.
-
Track record of building and scaling finance teams and systems from the ground up.
-
Experience with fundraising (equity or debt) and investor relations is a strong plus.
-
Highly proactive, resourceful, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Work directly with a visionary, passionate, mission-driven team.
-
Be part of shaping the future of business in Africa.
